PROFILE OF DR. SOLOMON OMATSOLA AZUMURANA
Dr. Solomon Omatsola Azumurana lectures in the Department of English, University of Lagos. He holds a B.A. in English (second class upper division); M.A. in English (with a CGPA of 4.14/5.00); and a Ph.D. in English (Literature) – all from the University of Lagos. His area of research is in the Comparative Study of African and African American novels; Gender Studies with particular emphasis on women creative writings; and the Interface between Literary theories and works of Fiction. Dr. Azumurana has attended numerous conferences, both nationally and internationally, where he has presented some of his research findings – which have also been published in local and international literary journals of repute. He has also won some awards; the most recent being the Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Scholarship by the National Association of African American Studies & Affiliates (NAAAS) in Dallas, Texas, USA. He has served the university in various capacities. He has been Course Adviser; PG Coordinator; Member of the Faculty of Arts ICT Committee; Member of the Faculty of Arts A&P (Non professorial); Member of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the “Wole Soyinka @ 80 Conference”; Secretary of “Another Gathering of the Tribes Wole Soyinka’s Conference”; Programme Chair of the First Digital Humanities Summer School; LOC Chairman of the Second Digital Humanities Summer School; and LOC Chairman of the Digital Humanities Conference as well as the J.P. Clark International Conference. Dr. Azumurana is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English, University of Lagos; Member of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Committee; Member of the LOC of NUGA; and the Deputy Director of Quality Assurance & SERVICOM. He is married to Mrs. Courage Nwadiuto Azumurana; and both are blessed with two wonderful daughters.
